Wendell Hamlin Obituary

Wendell "Windy" Hamlin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on January 11, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on May 10, 1937, in the picturesque city of Ithaca, New York, Windy was the cherished son of Myron and Grace Hamlin.

Windy's unwavering love and devotion were evident throughout his life. On April 23, 1960, he married the love of his life, Anne, and together they built a marriage that was grounded in love, respect, and companionship. As a father, Windy was a constant source of guidance, support, and inspiration to his children, creating lasting memories and instilling in them the values of family, integrity, and hard work.

Windy's adventurous spirit led him to explore various hobbies and activities. He had a passion for golfing and belonged to the U.P.IG.A., a traveling golf league where he golfed throughout the United States.  His competitive spirit shone through in his bowling skills, and he always enjoyed engaging in friendly rivalries with friends and family.

In addition to his recreational pursuits, Windy had a successful career as a Millwright at Dodge Truck for 38 years and he loved his job.  He also worked as an electrician on the iconic Edmund Fitzgerald. His dedication and unwavering work ethic earned him the admiration and respect of his colleagues. He also served his country with pride as a member of the Navy Reserves, showcasing his commitment to the principles of honor, duty, and service.

Windy had a zest for life and cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He treasured family gatherings, where his sense of humor filled the room. One of his greatest joys was embarking on annual trips to the breathtaking island of Aruba for 27 consecutive years, creating a lifetime of unforgettable memories with Anne by his side and with numerous friends that he loved dearly too.   Windy loved to go on cruises and spend winters in Port Charlotte Florida where he could be found every day at the pool.

Beloved husband of Anne; cherished father to Mark (Katrina), and Gary; proud grandfather to Kara.  Admired uncle to many nieces and nephews.  A great friend to everyone.

Joined in Heaven by his loving parents, Myron and Grace; and his siblings Richard (Janet), Gerald (Mary Jo), William (the late Barbara) and Aneta.
