Walter Boyd, a kind and genuine soul, passed away on January 21, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on January 18, 1934, Walter lived a long and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to his family.
For many years, Walter proudly worked as a bus driver for Greyhound, a career that allowed him to meet new people and see new places. After retiring from Greyhound, he took a job driving for the elderly who needed help with transportation in Eastpointe, closer to his family, so that on his lunch breaks, he could visit his grandchildren. He became greatly appreciated by the senior citizens in the community. Walter also enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, watching sports, and admiring old cars.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Walter was an ardent fan of the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers. However, his greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children, Bruce and Lynne; three grandchildren, Ben (Jackie), Brian (Heather), and Erin (AJ); and five great-grandchildren, Jack, Victoria, Louise, Charles, and Ophelia.
Walter was preceded in death by his mother Velma, father Bruce, brother Al and his son Brian. Though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in the memories of his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support.
As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we remember his infectious smile, his warm heart, and his unshakeable commitment to his family. He never failed to go above and beyond to help others around him. Rest in peace, Walter. Your love and legacy will live on through the countless lives you touched.
