It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Edmund Frederiksen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on January 4, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on May 10, 1951, Thomas was a man whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone he encountered.
Thomas dedicated over 40 years of his career to the meat industry (Grand Packing, Metropolitan Vernor Meat company, Thompson cain company, Osten Meats, and Sherwood Foods), beginning as a truck driver and working his way up to Vice President of Operations. His commitment and work ethic not only earned him respect among his peers but also shaped the lives of many within the community.
He loved spending summers fishing, boating, and skiing at his home on Houghton Lake. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, attending concerts, sporting events, and competitions. As a skilled auto mechanic who once owned a Sunoco in Troy with his brother Bill, he enjoyed working on his 1961 Ford Galaxy restoration. He could fix or build anything, and after retiring, he continued to use his talent to lend a helping hand to many, thriving in his role as a handyman.
For over 40 years, Thomas was a loving husband to Nancy, and together they created a home filled with laughter and love. He is survived by his two children, Shannen (Jason) and Brian (Jennifer), as well as his cherished grandchildren, Jakob (Hannah), Benjamin, Joseph, Nathan, and Katelyn. He is also survived by his sister, Candace (Steve) Puchovan, and many nieces and nephews. Thomas is predeceased by his parents, Edmund and Marion, and siblings, William, Joseph, Susan Bulger, and Donald.
Thomas's life will be celebrated by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on January 9, 2026, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home. We invite all who knew Thomas to join us in sharing memories, stories, and the love he so freely gave.
Rest in peace, Thomas. Your legacy of love and dedication will forever live on in our hearts.
