Thomas John Filipiak, a.k.a. Flip was a God-loving man, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on January 2, 2024. Born on July 29, 1940, in Lilly Pennsylvania, Flip was one of the cherished sons of Walter and Rose Filipiak. He met his wife Joy, and they were happily married for nearly 50 years.
Flip lived a full life filled with joy, laughter, and a passion for things that brought him happiness. He loved watching and participating in sports such as golf, racketball, and hockey. He found great joy in spending time with his three grandchildren. A true builder at heart, Flip loved a good home challenge. He remodeled every house he owned, and his latest and proudest being his cottage up North at Houghton Lake. Flip was known for his outgoing nature and his ability to make everyone around him laugh. There were many nights spent at the local pub with friends, drinking beer, and singing karaoke to the tunes of Neil Diamond.
Proud father to Patty (Rich) Stickley, Troy Filipiak, and Ty (Shannon) Filipiak, loved brother of Carol, (Mike) Murphy, Amelia (Al) Kunka, Mike Filipiak, Jim Filipiak, and sister-in-law Margie Filipiak, beloved grandfather to Katy (Evan) Haigh, Christina Stickley, and Nicola Filipiak, joined in heaven by his loving wife Joy, and his loving parents, Walter and Rose and his brother Walter.
