Steven Wayne Lee

Steven Wayne Lee, age 69 of Macomb, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024.

Born on October 26, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, Steven was loved by his parents, Burton and Maryann Lee,

Hard working from early on, after graduating from Fraser High School, Steve began his career at the Macomb County Road Commission. He served the county for 28 years before retiring. One of Steve’s most proud accomplishments was starting his own successful business, Lee Motorsports. 


Deeply devoted to his son, Eric, Steve considered him his best friend and the pride of his life. He took great joy and fondly cared for Eric's loving family, daughter-in-law Kristy, and his beloved grandchildren.

Other than family and friends, Steve’s passion was stock car racing. His racing career began in 1972 as a driver. He went on to win many big races and track championships before becoming a car owner and crew chief for Eric. His meticulous attention to detail in perfecting his race cars was apparent to everyone on the track. Embraced by a close-knit racing community, everyone was always welcome at Steve’s #5 pit area after the races for some good food, drinks, and laughs.

Steve’s adventurous spirit was also evident when snowmobiling in the U.P. each winter and spending his summer boating on Lake St. Clair.

Beloved father of Eric (Kristy) Lee; proud grandpa of Avery, Brayden, and Shelby; cherished brother of Sharon Jackson. Steve is survived by many loving family members including nieces and nephews, as well as numerous friends.

The memorial service honoring Steven Wayne Lee will be held on Friday, April 5 from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral Service to be held on Saturday, April 6 at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home. Instate, or gathering time, 10:00 AM. Service at 11:00 AM.
