Sherry Drake, a devoted special education teacher, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, after a life defined by service and creativity. Sherry was born on May 25, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan to Eugene and Maxine Kunz.
For nearly 30 years, Sherry dedicated herself to the education and empowerment of children with special needs, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives and their families. Her commitment to her students made her a beloved figure in the classroom and a mentor among her peers.
Beyond her professional life, Sherry was a woman of many passions. She had an adventurous spirit and a deep appreciation for the arts. She found great joy in travel, dance, and creative pursuits, and was most at peace near the water relishing walks along the beach and the serenity of the shoreline.
Sherry was predeceased by her husband Douglas Drake and is survived by her loving children, Andrea and Jeffery; her grandchildren, Angela, Melissa, David, Michelle, Brandon, and Brooke; her great-grandchildren, Mela, John, and Thomas. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings Shelley, Marty, and Nancy, Additionally, by her oldest friend Shannon A. and her dearest friend Shannon P. and family.
Sherry will be deeply missed and loved.
