Sandra Wagers Chesney, age 67, passed away on January 26, 2021.
Sandra was born on August 8, 1953 to Don and Bertha Downey in Bimble, Kentucky. She was one of eight children. As a young girl, Sandra and her family moved to Michigan. At the age of 19, Sandra met the love of her life, and future husband, Joseph Chesney. They quickly fell in love, and were married on March 23, 1973. Together, Sandra and Joseph raised three children; Jeremy, Jason, and Nikia. Sandra was an amazing mom to her children, and cherished her time being a mammaw to her dear grandchildren. Later on in life, Sandra decided to go back to school and earned her certificate in medical billing. For twenty years she worked dutifully as a medical biller, before retiring in 2013.
Sandra had a deep love, and connection with her faith. She would go on to teach her children, and later grandchildren, about the bible and the meaningful relationship it is to have with Christ Jesus. She was also incredibly crafty and had a great eye for all her creative hobbies. She enjoyed puzzles of all sorts, including jigsaw puzzles and puzzle games on her phone and computer. Sandra will be forever remembered for her selflessness and love that she showered on those that she knew. Her beautiful heart and soul will be forever cherished by those who loved her.
Beloved mother of Jeremy (Amy) Chesney, and Jason (Sarah) Chesney; proud mammaw of Jacob, Denise Ann, Joshua, Joseph, Justin, and Jack; cherished sister of Fern (the late Larry) Pherson, Charles (Carol) Downey, Margie (the late Bill) Hart, Donald (Connie) Downey, Estiline ( the late Walter) Fields, and Darrell (Louann) Downey, dear sister-in-law of Anna Downey.
Sandra was preceded in passing by her dear husband Joseph Chesney, daughter Nikia Chesney, brother Everett Downey, and parents Don and Bertha Downey.
