It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Allan Schmidt, a dedicated patriot, loving husband, and devoted family man. Born on September 1, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Bob courageously served his country in the United States Army before embarking on a fulfilling career as a truck driver, eventually finding retirement with the United States Postal Service.
Married in 1981 to his beloved wife Sherry, Bob cherished their life together, and was a pillar of strength and love to his son Robert J. Schmidt and stepchildren Jerry and Ysile. Being a grandfather brought Bob immense joy, a role he embraced with tenderness and pride.
Bob's commitment to faith was unwavering, finding solace and community at Immanuel Lutheran Church and later Lakeside Community Church.
An avid lover of the great outdoors, Bob found peace in camping and hunting, his time spent riding motorcycles with his loved ones holding special significance.
A longtime member of the American Legion and the American Legion Riders for 25 years, Bob's dedication to service and camaraderie highlighted his noble character. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
