Robert “Bob” Delaney, aka “Big Daddy”, a loving husband, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, at the young age of 64. Born on April 10, 1960, in Cortez, Colorado, Bob was the son of Willett Peek and step-father Bernard Schulte.
Bob’s life was defined by laughter, fun, generosity, and commitment to his friends and family. During his years at Denby High School in 1975-1978, Bob met his one true love, Lori. While life took them on separate paths, it wasn’t enough to keep them apart as they reunited in 2010 and have been inseparable since. The two married on the waters of Lake St. Clair on June 7th, 2014. The loved ones in his life had long hoped for someone to come along and be his better half, and their love story was an answered prayer. People frequently would say they had never seen Bob happier than when he was with Lori, and she was the missing piece to his puzzle. Their affection and love for one another encouraged and inspired many, everyone even knew of their nicknames for one another, her as his “Babies” and him as her “Bubbas”. Their love story truly rivaled what movies aspire to create.
He was a long-time resident of Michigan, which spurred on his love for the Detroit Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings. In an example of his compassion, Bob served as the care taker for his mother in her final years. After her passing, Bob and Lori relocated to Texas.
Since 1991, Bob has worked for the company SunSource, showing his loyalty and dedication to his craft. Despite his hard-working personality, he made time for the things that mattered most in his life; his family and friends, sports, golfing, traveling, classic cars, hanging by the pool, loving on their dog Brandi, a good meal, and most importantly spending time with his beloved wife.
Bob Delaney will forever be remembered as a man whose generosity and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, fun times, and cherished memories that will be treasured by his adored wife, step-daughters, grandchildren, and countless friends.
He is survived by his forever loving wife, Lori Delaney; step-daughters Cari (Christian) Goans, and Danielle (Michael) Bailey; grandchildren Casen, Liliana, and soon to be Eliza; Mother-in-Law Brenda Orris; Sisters-in-Law and Brothers-in-Law Sheri and Greg Provenzano, Debbi and Jerry Dottavio, Bonnie and Rick Kimmons; and 6 nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his mother Willett Peek, step-father Bernard Schulte, and Father-in-Law George Orris.
In a true representation of Bob’s life and his compassion, his final act of service and the last thing he did on this earth, was to give the gift of life to many people through means of organ donation. His legacy will live on not only through our memories, but physically through the life of others.
