Rick Carra, 73, passed away surrounded by the love of his family and the many memories he created throughout a life well lived. Rick was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose warmth, humor, and strong spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Nancy Mukavec; his children, Ricky (Bethany) and Tracy; his grandchildren, Taylor, Bella, and Quinten. He was proud of the family he built and loved nothing more than spending time with them, sharing stories, laughter, and meals around the table. He also lovingly embraced Nancy’s daughter, Kristen, as part of the family he held close to his heart.
Predeceased by his parent’s Josephine and Salvatore Carra, Rick carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and family throughout his entire life. He is survived by his sisters, Trina (Craig) and Annette (Sam),was predeceased by his sister, Marie, and survived by his many nieces and nephews whom he shared treasured memories with.
A skilled tradesman and bricklayer, Rick took immense pride in his work and the craftsmanship he brought to every project. Beyond his trade, he dedicated himself to helping others through the Myasthenia Gravis Association, where he organized and lead multiple 5ks, which he got diagnosed with in 2009, where his compassion and commitment earned him the honor of Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Volunteer, and Volunteers of the year.
Rick was a man of simple but unforgettable joys. He loved driving with Nancy in his mustang, a good cannoli, finding the best new food place from watching Food Network and passionately debated who made the best pasta sauce. He enjoyed playing the lottery, bingo, bowling, softball, camping, having euchre parties with friends, and could always be found enjoying music while playing along on his keyboard. He had a special love for cats and a personality that combined stubborn charm, humor, and generosity in equal measure.
Those who knew Rick will remember his humor, quick wit, and being the neighborhood handy man. His legacy lives on through the family he loved, the friendships he cherished, and the countless lives he touched through laughter, and love. He will be greatly missed.
