Richard Lee Mountz

Richard Lee Mountz, age 80, of Macomb (formerly Flint) passed away on October 8, 2020 surrounded by the love of his family.

Richard was born on August 15, 1940 to Myron and Marion Mountz in Holland, Michigan. Richard grew up in Detroit and graduated from Denby High School, where he excelled at track and swimming. In 1973, Richard started his own fencing company ‘Suburban Fence’. He ran his successful business up until the early 2000’s, before retiring. Along the way, he taught many family members and others the skill of fencing. Richard was always the life of any party, and would find any excuse to have a good time and dance (especially if some Motown was playing!). His good nature and funny personality made him a magnet to others, and he made many friends throughout his years. He had many hobbies that he enjoyed, such as hunting and fishing. He hunted every year in the woods of Michigan, and loved to make trips around the United States to hunt big game. He was also a excellent pool player and great bowler, with one 300 perfect game and two 299’s under his belt. Dear to his heart was his faith and the love of his church. However, the most important thing to Richard was his family, and the time he spent with them. Richard will be forever remembered for his quick wit, and love for life.

He will be forever missed.

Beloved father of Steven Mountz, and Holly (Dwayne) Noble; proud grandfather of Deana (Robert), Lauren, Matthew, and Christopher; cherished brother of Charles (Sally); Richard is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children Charlotte.

Richard was preceded in death by his dear daughter Leslie, grandson David, and parents Myron and Marion.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 11 from 2-8PM. Memory sharing will be at 6 PM. Funeral Service will take place on Monday, October 12. Instate, or gathering time, 10AM. Service at 11AM. Burial to take place at Cadillac Memory Gardens East at 2PM.
