Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather
Richard James Ferguson, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and dedication to family. He was proud of his 62-year marriage to his beloved wife Dolores (Kosin) Ferguson, and the strong, loving family they built together.
Born and raised on a farm, Richard developed a deep love for nature and gardening that remained with him throughout his life. His early years were filled with hard work and adventure, and he answered the call to military service at a young age. However, a life-changing accident led to an honorable discharge, shifting his path but never diminishing his drive. At just 18 years old, he earned his pilots license, beginning a lifelong passion for planes and aeronautics.
Richard spent his career with Chrysler Corporation, where he worked diligently to provide for his family. Upon retirement, he and Dolores made their home on beautiful Harsens Island, where he found immense joy watching his grandchildren swim and fish off the dock, tending to his huge garden, and tinkering in his garage. A natural-born fixer, Richard could repair just about anything and even devoted his spare time to building an experimental airplane.
Above all, Richards greatest pride was his family. He was the father of Colleen (Jim) Beauchamp, Craig (Stacey) Ferguson, Catrina laRose, Correen (Steven) Fraser, and Cynthia (John) Lojewski. He was a loving grandfather to Nolan (Elenor) LaRose, Rustin (Rylee) LaRose, Julianne (Alex) Truman, Nicholas (Rialda) Lojewski, Jacob Lojewski, Brendan Beauchamp, Katelyn Beauchamp, Cole Ferguson, and Claire Ferguson. He was a proud great-grandfather to Eloise LaRose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Sarah Ferguson, and his eight siblings: William Ferguson, David Ferguson, Sarah-Jean Buschel, Lois Smithy, Peggy Dennis, Shirley Pathe, Ledora Reetz, and Judy Ezakovich.
Richards life was defined by hard work, unwavering love for his family, and an adventurous spirit. He will be remembered for his kindness , ingenuity, and the countless memories he created with those he loved. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
