Richard William Connor, age 86, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2023.
Richard was born on June 5, 1937 to loved parents William and Patricia Connor in Detroit, Michigan. Richard graduated from St. Martin High School in Detroit in 1955. It was in high school that Richard would meet his soulmate, and future bride, Lise Leveille. After high school, both Richard and Lise attended The University of Detroit. After college, Richard started his career at Hudson’s in Detroit as a furniture salesperson. Richard truly enjoyed his job, and retired after 34 dedicated years. In 1960, Richard and Lise would marry in a truly beautiful ceremony at St. Martin Catholic Church in Detroit. They would go on to raise four beloved children; David, Steven, Diane, and Susan. Richard was the best dad, and together with Lise they taught their children what it truly means to love your family, be devoted in your faith, and set an example of what a good marriage is. Every summer, Richard would take his family to their beloved cottage at Hubbard Lake where they made endless wonderful memories. Richard had a passion for music (especially jazz), was a history buff, always kept up with politics, an avid daily reader of his favorite newspapers, and a life-long fan of Detroit Tigers baseball. He also had a quick-witted sense of humor, delivered as a “zinger”, or awash in sarcasm. However, the most important part of his life was always his family and the time he was able to spend with them. Richard will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Beloved husband of 63 years to Lise Connor; loving father of David (Gabriela) Connor, Steven (Kathy) Connor, Diane (Paul) Caruso, and Susan (Frank) Czaplicki; proud grandpa of Valerie, Tracy, Kevin, Michael, Christopher, Sara, Samuel, and Gavin; cherished great-grandpa of Carson, Callan, Kinley, and Caden. Richard is also survived by many loving family and friends.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 23 at St. Kieran Catholic Church in Shelby Twp. at 10:00 AM.
