Phyllis Ethel De Capua passed away on July 2,2026 at the age of 95. Born in Detroit, Michigan on August 17,1930 to George and Ethel (Henning) Gutschmidt.

Phyllis along with older brother George was raised in a modest 2 story home on Jane Street near 6 Mile and Gratiot in Detroit. She took dance lessons as a young girl, graduated from Denby high school and began office work in downtown Detroit. She met her future husband, Dan, at a dance hall, they fell in love and married in 1951.They lived upstairs from her parents and then moved to a ranch home next to St. Angela Church in Roseville.

Over the years they built a life centered on family as they raised their two children. Phyllis was the quincentennial devoted mother and homemaker. Her time and talents were devoted to nurturing her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family life included trips to Boblo, Mackinac Island, Florida and Harsen's Island. Many wonderful weekends were spent at her parents' cottage on Harsen's Island with extended family enjoying boat rides, fishing, swimming and watching freighters pass by the cottage.

Phyllis and Dan enjoyed square dancing with the neighbors, couples bowling, card club, golf weekends, trips to Las Vegas, Hawaii, Pine Lakes in Florida and family reunions. They were married 63 years and leave a legacy of leading by example, instilling in their family resilience and empathy.
