Philip Oscar Chapo, age 80 of Harrison Twp., passed away on May 14th, 2020.
Philip was born on May 13th, 1940 to Bela and Helen Chapo in Detroit, Michigan. Following high school, Philip served with the United States Navy and after earned his Associates Degree. Philip retired from Chrysler in 2001 after 32 years and then worked for Home Depot for eight years. During his life, Philip met and married the love of his life, Cathleen Koopman Duryee. They married on June 26, 1981 in Eastpointe, MI and raised one child; Bryan Duryee. In Philip’s free time, he loved to be outside in nature hunting or fishing with his son and friends. The most important part of Philip’s life was the love and time he spent with his cherished family.
He will be forever missed.
Beloved husband of Cathleen Duryee Chapo; cherished father of Bryan Duryee; proud grandfather of Sydney and Wyatt Duryee. Dear uncle to Stephanie Popham, Richard (Donna) Popham, Jim (Debbie) Popham, Rhonda (Bill) Kucharsky, Kevin (Michelle) Chapo, Caroline (Tom) Schweiss, and Joanne Ottney.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents Bela and Helen Chapo; dear brothers Ronald and Bruce Chapo; and dear nephew Paul Chapo.
Memorial service and burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI at a later date.
