Percy was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Gertrude and Percy Lewis Sr. They eventually relocated to Robbins, Illinois outside Chicago along with his younger sister Patricia . Later, Pamela and Philip were welcomed to the family.
He attended Southern Illinois University where he majored in Mathematics. He worked as a bus driver to pay his way through school. Upon graduation he spent a brief time working as a Mathematics teacher. Eventually, he became a pharmaceutical sales representative for Eli Lilly. While working full time at Eli Lilly he attended and graduated from law school at DePaul University. He also spent several years in the Army Reserves. He moved to Michigan along with his wife Mary and daughters where he worked as a Sales Rep for BASF.
Seeking a change, his next endeavor was as an owner and operator of two McDonald’s restaurants in the metro Detroit area. After the closure of the restaurants he decided to pursue his law career independently. Fueled by a strong desire to fulfill his dreams he was able to accomplish his goals and aspirations despite his humble beginnings. He will be remembered for his tenacious and gregarious spirit.
Survived by his two children Wendy LaNice Lewis and Sina LaJuana Lewis, two siblings Philip Lewis and Patricia Jenkins as well as his dear nieces and nephews. He’s also survived by his dear companion Rita Watts and good friend Henry Sanders.
