Patricia "Cookie" Galka Obituary

Patricia "Cookie" Marie Galka, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024. Born on May 29, 1941, in Cary, Wisconsin, to Edwin and Catherine Cook, Cookie's radiance and kindness touched the lives of everyone she encountered.

Cookie attended Roosevelt Junior High in Montreal Wisconsin, before graduating from J.E. Murphy

High School in Hurley, Wisconsin. She pursued her passion for the medical field by attending the Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minnesota, where she obtained her degree as a laboratory technician. It was during her high school years that she met the love of her life, Jeffry “Denny” Galka, whom she later married in 1961 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, surrounded by their loved ones. Together, they were blessed with two cherished sons, Dale and Darin.

Devoted to her family, Cookie was a pillar of strength and love. Her role as a mother was paramount, always present at her sons' sports games and events. Overjoyed to become a grandmother and great-grandmother, she cherished every moment spent with her family. Cookie dedicated many years to her career in the medical field, serving diligently at Dr. Gladstone's office in Norway, MI and Dickinson Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Cookie also spent the last 20+ years working for Internal Medicine Associates in Mount Clemens, Michigan before retiring at the age of 71.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Cookie found solace in boating, camping, and traveling with her husband to explore new horizons. Despite her busy schedule, she remained deeply committed to her faith, embodying the spirit of Christ through her selflessness and compassion. Known for her generosity and willingness to assist those in need, Cookie's presence brought warmth and comfort to all who knew her.

Beloved wife of Jeffry Galka; loving mother of Dale (Dana) Galka, and Darin (Marisa Morales)

Galka; cherished Grandma Cookie to Joshua, Maxwell, Genisis, Julio, Sinai, Emily (Davis), Galilea

(Anyello), Mason, Jaziel, Ania, and Miah; best Great-Grandma to Ariadna “Ari”; beloved Auntie Cookie to Kathe (Dan) Thorup, and Cindi (Curt) Day; dear great-aunt to Tony (Danielle) Thorup, Chris (Jennifer) Thorup, Andy (Erica) Day, and Allison Day.
