Patricia Marie Cherry

Patricia Marie Cherry, 77, of Macomb Township passed away peacefully on December 23, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Patricia was born on April 2, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to Dulcie (Kosmowski) and Anthony Mielczarski. She is the beloved wife of over 57 years to Clark Cherry, cherished mother of five children Denise (the late Ronald) Szewczul, Clark (Patty) Cherry, Chris Cherry, Carl (Kerri) Cherry, Michael (Cara) Cherry, loving grandmother to Renee (Nick Somers), Kayla, Sarah, Matthew, Kyle, Nicholas, Rachel, Jacob, Logan, Sierra, Caitlin, and Colin, as well as seven sisters Barbara (the late Ralph) Nowak, Annette (the late John) Soave, Judy (Robert) Preston, Cynthia (the late Robert) Hecker, Alice (Philip) Adams, Marcia (Gordon) Book, and the late Mary Ereaux. She is predeceased by her parents, brother in law David, and many cherished Aunts and Uncles.

Pat was a devout catholic and was an active member at St Dorothy Catholic Church for over 40 years and later a member of St. Paul of Tarsus. Pat also worked at St. Dorothy’s as a housekeeper for several years. She developed close bonds with all the people she worked with at the Church and never thought of her time there as work.

Family was incredibly important to her and she always looked forward to family reunions, birthdays, holidays, weekend barbeques, and any occasion where the family could be together. While she wasn’t a fan of flying, Pat did enjoy traveling throughout Michigan. She loved spending time in the early years at their property in Lewiston, visiting family in Traverse City, and camping with her children throughout the years.

In her free time, Pat loved to garden, create flower arrangements, and visit the casinos where she donated her extra money to the slot machines. Though she never “Hit it Big”, she continued to go back and thoroughly enjoyed her time with the one-armed bandit. 

Pat will lie in state on Wednesday, December 30th from 10:30 am until the time of her Funeral Mass at 11 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Rd, Warren, MI 48093. A burial service will be scheduled for later in the spring. 

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Veterans of America or St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
