Norman Gene Fortune, age 89 of Macomb, passed away on January 3, 2021.
Norman was born on February 22, 1931 to Harvey and Nettie Fortune in Detroit, Michigan. After graduation, Norman proudly joined the United States Army. Before he was called into duty, fate would lead him to a birthday party of a 17-year-old Dolores Meyers. He went in search of some of his friends, but instead would meet the love of his life and future bride: Dolores. They were engaged before he left for service where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Norman remained a proud patriot and veteran well after his time in the service. After the war, Norman and Dolores married in 1954 at the old St. Clemens Catholic Church in Centerline, Michigan. Together they raised five children; Deborah, Beth, Daniel, Mark, and Christopher. Norman was always a hardworking man. He worked in maintenance for 18 years at Tuff Kote, and then at Ford Automotive for 28 years as a millwright. He retired in 1994 from Ford. One of Norman’s greatest joys in his life was his family. He cherished the time they spent together, and loved to be a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He also enjoyed family trips to his cottage in Higgins Lake, golfing, fishing, hunting, and traveling with his dear wife Dolores.
Norman will be forever cherished in the memory and hearts of all who loved him.
