Michael Simurdiak

It is with both heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Michael Roy Simurdiak at the age of 65. Michael, a loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, and friend to many, left us on April 12, 2025. Born to Daniel and Anita Simurdiak, Michael lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventures.

Michael’s warm presence and generous spirit will forever be missed. He found joy in the simple things - whether it was hitting the golf course, enjoying a game of cards, or hanging with his friends. He had an amazing talent for building and creating things with his hands. You could always find him working on a new project and making it look better than the professionals ever dreamed. His creativity and passion for life extended beyond his projects; he cherished time spent with loved ones, especially his children and grandchildren, and providing guidance throughout the family. He truly was a man of great character; always calm, collected, and available for anyone who needed help. A true role model of how to be a friend, a son, a brother, a husband, a father, and a human being.

Together with his beloved wife, Karen, Michael explored the world, visiting incredible destinations like Italy, Spain, Alaska, and Hawaii.  These travels enriched his life with experiences that he shared with those he loved. Michael and Karen marked their 42 years of being together this April, and were coming up on their 38 wedding anniversary this July. With retiring at the end of December, and Karen coming up on retirement, they had so many more trips planned for the future. 

He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.

Beloved husband of Karen; proud father to Matt Griffin and Eric Simurdiak; loving grandfather to Maggie (Joseph “JD”) Blondell, Amelia Griffin, and Henry Griffin; cherished brother to Annette (Patrick) Rooney and Gary Simurdiak; loved Uncle to many nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Simurdiak family, Alzheimer's Association, or the American Heart Association.
