With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Ann Fehir, who left us peacefully on December 9, 2024, at the age of 66. Born on March 10, 1958, in Detroit to William and Mary Knop, Mary Ann was a vibrant soul whose passion for life and love for others were evident in everything she did.
A proud graduate of Detroit Mercy with a degree in nursing, Mary Ann dedicated her life to mental health nursing. She was an ardent advocate for her patients, always going above and beyond to ensure they felt supported and cared for. As a devoted nursing teacher, she inspired many to follow in her footsteps, sharing her knowledge and heartfelt compassion with the next generation of nurses.
When she wasn't busy at work, you could find Mary Ann enjoying her favorite pastime—playing Wordle—or cheering on her beloved Detroit Lions, with a special fondness for her favorite player, Gibbs. An incredible cook, she had a knack for creating memorable meals, and her homemade lasagna and chocolate chip cookies were legendary among family and friends alike.
Mary Ann loved gathering with her family, often reminiscing about cherished memories, especially those created with her granddaughter. Her love for Mexican food was matched only by her joy in feeding others, as she believed that good food brings people together.
Mary Ann's spirit will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of kindness and dedication to nursing and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Proud mother to Rick (Amy) and Sarah; devoted grandmother "gaga" to Reese; survived by her former spouse, Rich Fehir.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the family or to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
