Mario Estrada

Mario Estrada, age 73, who passed away on April 21, 2024. Born on February 18, 1951, Mario was the beloved son of Ines and Benita Estrada of Detroit, Michigan. Mario was given the nick name Peanuts because when he was born, he only weighed 2 pounds. The nickname stuck with him throughout his life. A loving father to his cherished children, Roseanna and Mario, Mario also found great joy in being a grandfather to his four grandchildren. Family was his greatest passion, and the time spent with loved ones held a special place in his heart. Mario embraced his Mexican heritage with pride, enjoying traditional dishes and music that connected him to his roots. An avid supporter of Detroit sports teams, he never missed cheering on the Red Wings and Tigers, displaying unwavering loyalty. In his youth, Mario found joy in playing baseball and softball and visiting horse race tracks. A vibrant soul, Mario's laughter lit up any room, establishing him as the life of the party. His warmth and generosity shone through as he regularly shared his blessings with the St. Jude's Children's Foundation.

Beloved father of Mario (Linda) Estrada, and Roseanna Marie (Brandon) Trygg; proud grandfather of Robert Trygg, Isabella Trygg, Julian Estrada, and Marcella Estrada; loving brother of Anna M. (Jose) Rodriguez, Arthur (Josephine) Garcia, Henry (Jane) Garcia, and Alfred (Theresa) Estrada. Mario is also survived by many loving family and friends.

Mario is preceded in passing by his loving parents Ines and Benita Estrada, and siblings Rudy (Marie) Garcia, Salvador (Gema) Garcia, Angela (Ralph) McLaughlin, and Theresa (Harvey) Vance.

Visitation to take place on Wednesday, April 24 from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral service to be held on Thursday, April 25 at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home. Instate, or gathering time, 10:00 AM. Service at 11:00 AM. Procession to Resurrection Cemetery to follow where committal prayers and burial will take place.
