Marie Ilene Nichol, lovingly known for her bright spirit and artistic talents, brought joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Born on August 13, 1957, in Royal Oak, Michigan, Marie found immense joy in attending concerts, creating and sharing beautiful art through drawing, painting, and diamond dots, and “spreading the positive”. She had a particular fondness for sunrises and sunsets, long drives, spending time at the beach, her beloved cat Lily, and spending time with her family, especially her grandson and her two bonus grandchildren. Marie could find beauty in everything and took immense pleasure in seeking it out and sharing it with the world.
Marie was the heartbeat of every gathering, always shining brightly and spreading love wherever she went. Her compassion knew no bounds, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She cherished moments spent with friends, engaging in rounds of cards or playing Yahtzee, attending concerts, meeting up for breakfast, enjoying a day at the lake, and creating memories that will forever be treasured.
On July 20, 2024, Marie peacefully passed away with her daughters at her side, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and creativity that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her spirit will continue to illuminate the lives of those she touched.
Beloved mother of Rebecca (Brian) and Elizabeth (James); loving sister of Thomas, David, and Sue; dear sister-in-law of Roberta; proud grandmother to her grandson Liam and her bonus grandchildren, Arianna and Gabe. Marie is also survived by a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who cherished her presence in their lives.
Joined in Heaven by her loving parents, Alfred (Arlene) Nichol and Shirley (Donald) Wiethoff, brother Randall, and sister Nancy.
