Lawrence John Bucec, age 77, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2020 surrounded by the love of his family.
Lawrence was born on October 5, 1942 to John and Isabel Bucec in Detroit, Michigan. As a young man, Lawrence proudly joined the United States Army and served his county courageously from 1964 – 1967. After his time in the service, Lawrence went back to work at the Ford Motor Company. It was during this time that he would meet the love of his life (and soon wife) Marilyn Murray. They married in 1976, and together raised the three boys; Brian, Bradley, and William. Lawrence was also a hardworking, and dedicated worker and family man. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 37 years of service. In Lawrence’s free time, he loved to go golfing with his friends and family and was a longtime fan of playing basketball (playing basketball in both community college where he was a coach and during his time in the Army). Marilyn and Lawrence also owned many race horses throughout the years. Together they would travel from New York, Chicago, and Florida to attend the races. Lawrence’s love, lessons, and memory will live on forever in the memory of his dear family and friends forever.
Loving husband of 43 years of Marilyn Bucec; dear father of Brian (Elizabeth), Bradley (Julayne), and William (Tina); cherished grandfather of Evan, Ryan, Jillian, Jon (Shayna), Tyler, and Adison; proud great-grandfather of Averi Joy, Luna May, Josephine Grace, Audrey Willow, and Padraig Michael Francis; loved brother of George (the late Susan) Bucec.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents John and Isabel Bucec.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Francis St. Maximillian Catholic Church. Date to be determined.
