Laura Belle Walsh, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on April 8, 1931, in Gladwin, Michigan, Laura was the cherished daughter of Henry and Susan Seipke.
Laura's adventurous spirit led her to Detroit after high school, where she found employment at Stoffer's restaurant. It was during her time in the city that she met the love of her life, Eugene Rozell, on a streetcar. They were married in 1951, and together they built a beautiful family, raising four beloved children.
Although Laura and Eugene later divorced, their friendship endured, demonstrating the depth of their love and respect for one another. Laura's heart was filled with an abundance of love, and she discovered another great love in her life when she married Frank Walsh.
Laura, alongside Frank, embarked on a successful journey as restaurateurs, owning and operating several beloved establishments, including the Sandtrap in St. Clair Shores, the Pit Stop Bar in Clinton Township, and Mt. Chalet. Their dedication and hard work created cherished memories for all who walked through their doors.
After retiring from the restaurant business, Laura was eager to continue making a positive impact. She rejoined the workforce as a lunch lady at Algonquin Middle School, where her nurturing nature and infectious smile endeared her to the children. Fondly known as "Grandma," Laura brought joy and warmth to the students' lives, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
Laura will always be remembered for her compassionate nature, her incredible culinary skills, and her love for flowers and gardening. Above all, her fun-loving and feisty spirit will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Laura Belle Walsh leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her four children, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will forever treasure her memory.
