It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Larry D. Vande Vrede, born on September 4, 1944, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Lawrence and Estelle Vande Vrede.
Following his education at Western Michigan University and Wayne State University Law School, he became a licensed attorney in 1969, dedicating over 50 years to his successful law firm, Vande Vrede & Lavigne, in Macomb County. Larry was a respected lawyer, dedicating his life to serving people and the law. He was admired by colleagues and clients alike for his integrity, wisdom, and relentless work ethic, having served his clients until his last day. Larry left us peacefully on October 17, 2024.
A loving husband, devoted father, and doting grandfather, Larry will be remembered for his boundless energy, sharp intellect, and compassionate spirit. Beyond his legal career, Larry found great joy on the golf course, where he spent countless days attempting to perfect his swing and sharing moments with friends. In true Larry fashion, he golfed on his last day. His love for the game was only surpassed by his love for his family. Larry was a man full of life, always eager to embrace new challenges, share a laugh, and offer a helping hand to those in need. He is survived by his beloved wife Karen L. Vande Vrede; his four children Laura M. Vande Vrede, Jason G. Vande Vrede, Justin D. (Jessica) Vande Vrede; and Dale K. Vande Vrede; loving grandfather of Finn G. Vande Vrede, and Roman E. Vande Vrede; cherished brother of David (the late Kathy) Vande Vrede, Judy (James) Warmington, Nancy Jo (James) Vande Vrede-Tiller. Larry is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family, and numerous friends. Larry is preceded in passing by his parents Lawrence and Estelle Vande Vrede.
His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation to take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home. A short memorial service will begin at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. There will be a spirited Celebration of Life that will follow at Enchantment Banquet Hall. May he rest in peace, be forever remembered and cherished
