Karen Jean Parkinson passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on March 28, 1938, in Harrison Twp, Michigan, Karen was the cherished daughter of Eleanor Lee (Russ). She spent her early years in the Philippines on an Army base, fostering a deep appreciation for the diversity of different cultures.
Throughout her life, Karen shared a deep and enduring love with her husband, Joe Parkinson, whom she met at a party and married on October 27, 1956. Together, Karen and Joe raised two children, Todd and Heather, and delighted in the joy of becoming grandparents to Christopher and Travis. Karen's devotion extended not only to her family but also to many family dogs.
A woman of many interests, Karen was an enthusiastic reader with a particular passion for history. Her career path was diverse, encompassing roles such as a city clerk, furniture sales clerk, and an administrative position at Fraser Villa. Her dedication and hard work reflected her commitment to every task she undertook.
Karen's kind and gentle spirit touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
