Karen Lynn Coussens, age 74 of Benzonia, passed away on May 11, 2020.
Karen was born on June 22, 1945 in Allen Park, Michigan to Joseph and Mary Chirillo. As a young woman, Karen met and married the love of her life, Joseph J. Coussens, a second marriage for both, and together they had 6 children. Karen retired in 1997 from L’Anse Creuse Public Schools, and later worked for 17 years at Accu-Rite Transcription as a medical transcriptionist. She had a deep love for nature and would spend many hours tending to her gardens. She also enjoyed knitting and cooking delicious meals for her family. Karen had a fun-loving spirit and loved to show that off with her dance moves and singing. However, the most important thing in her life was her beloved family and the time she spent with them.
Beloved mother of Kristin (Thomas) Harris, Tracey Herbert, Stephen Coussens, Paul (Michele) Coussens, Julie (Robert) Bise, and Christopher Coussens; dear sister-in-law of Rosemary Chirillo; proud grandmother of 21 and great-grandmother of 23.
Karen is also survived by many dear friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph J. Coussens; dear brother Joseph S. Chirillo; and her cherished parents Joseph and Mary Chirillo.
