Joyce Clarkson, age 95, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on February 12, 1930, Joyce lived a beautiful life marked by kindness, hard work, and an abundance of love that she shared with everyone she met.
Joyce began her career as a hairdresser but soon found her true calling in the kitchen. She worked as a cook at an elementary school, where her passion for children and her joy for cooking came together perfectly. She loved preparing meals for the students, often chatting with them and treating each one as if they were her own. Known affectionately by many as “Grandma,” Joyce had a gift for making everyone feel cared for through her warm heart and her warm meals.
At home, Joyce’s love for cooking continued to shine. Her family will forever remember her as the heart of every holiday gathering, always preparing the best dishes and her famous Christmas cookies that became a cherished tradition. Ice cream was one of her favorite treats—a love that started in her youth while making ice cream on the farm with her grandparents.
Joyce’s talents extended far beyond the kitchen. She had a remarkable gift for making things from scratch, whether it was sewing clothes for her family, crafting baby blankets for each little one, or creating beautiful embroidery. Caring for others—especially children—was her greatest joy, and it was a role she embraced with passion and grace.
Her early years spent on her grandparents’ farm were among her most treasured memories. It was there that she learned the value of hard work, the beauty of simplicity, and the importance of living from the land—lessons that shaped the remarkable woman she became.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jule. She is survived by her loving daughters, her cherished grandchildren, and her adored great-grandchildren. She also held a very special place in her heart for her great-great-grandchildren, Mila, Ellie, and Scarlet, who brought her endless joy.
Joyce’s legacy is one of love, family, and the simple joys of life. She will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity, her delicious cooking, and the way she made everyone feel like family. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Joyce's legacy of love and kindness be carried on through acts of support for children in need.
