Joseph Wisner Obituary

With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph Patrick Wisner, age 86, who was called home on November 23, 2025. Born on December 25, 1938, in Detroit to Hazen Wisner and Georgina Wylie, Joe lived a full, beautiful life defined by hard work, loyalty, and deep love for his family.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Joe went on to earn his journeyman certification as a millwright and retired from the GM Tech Center after 30 years, where he also served as a long elected UAW Local 160 representative. Joe was the kind of man who showed up—at work, at home, and for everyone he loved.

Joe married the love of his life, Carole Hundrieser, and together they built 64 years of unwavering devotion, laughter, and countless memories. Family was Joe’s greatest joy. Whether he was hosting, helping, storytelling, or teasing with his signature sarcastic humor, he made everyone feel welcome and loved.

He cherished time at their up north cottage, where he enjoyed hunting, tending the land, and soaking in the peacefulness of the outdoors. Joe also loved trips to the casino.

A skilled handyman, Joe could fix just about anything. He loved a hot cup of coffee while watching an old TV show, having a spirited debate, or sharing a conversation about history. His sense of adventure shone through in his love for motorcycles and working on antique cars.

Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His knowledge, humor, steady presence, and zest for life will remain in our hearts forever.

Beloved husband of Carole; devoted father to JoAnn Boida (Ronald) Klein, Michael (Bethany) Wisner, Melissa (Brian) Brown, and Deidre (Danny) Hone; and proud grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He is reunited in Heaven with his loving parents, Hazen and Georgina Wisner; his daughter, Susan Hurd and granddaughter Kayla Hurd; his son-in-law, Gregory Boida; and siblings Terrance (Christine) Wisner and Kathleen (late Frank) Stuban.

Rest in peace, Joe. Your legacy lives on through your family, in the stories, and in the love you leave behind.
