Joseph Xerri Obituary

Joseph Paul Xerri, age 86, passed away on April 13, 2020.

Joseph was born on December 6, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to Anthony and Jessie Xerri.  As a young man, Joe proudly joined the United States Army in 1954 and served his country with dedication and honor before leaving the Army in 1956.  He would go on to meet and marry the love of his life, Theresa Chircop, and together they would have five children: Tony, Leonard, Joe, Anne, and Jennifer.  In 1967, Joe started at Chrysler and for 32 years he worked as a senior designer before retiring in 1999.  In Joe’s free time, he loved to go boating with his family and friends, birdwatching, traveling and vacationing up north.  He was also a skilled and creative woodworker and painter. However, the most important thing in Joe’s life was his dear family and cherished grandchildren.

Joseph was devoted and beloved husband of Theresa Xerri for 61 years.  Loving father of Tony (Tami), Leonard (Aletia), Joe (Lynsie), Anne (Terrence Gallagher), and Jennifer.  Cherished grandfather of Jamie, Taylor, Troy, Kelli, Fiona, Erin, Andrew and Logan.  Brother of Mary (Chuck-deceased) Attard and John-deceased (Joyce-deceased) Xerri. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Memorials appreciated to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, St. Bonaventure, 1740 Mt Elliott Street, Detroit, MI.

Private family burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
