John Leonard Zaprawa, age 87 and long-time resident of Shelby Township, passed away on September 28, 2022.
John was born on November 6, 1934 in Laferty, Ohio to John and Josephine Zaprawa. As a young man, John proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country with patriotic loyalty and dedication. During his time in the service, John would meet the love of his life and future bride, Angeline, through good friends. John and Angeline quickly fell in love, and married in June 1957. Together they raised four dear children; Kathy, Sue, John and Lori. John was a wonderful father, and was overjoyed to become a grandfather and great-grandfather later in his life. John worked for many years after the service as an engineer for the government before retiring. After retirement, John went on to work for several more years at General Dynamics
John was passionate about spending time with his family and grandchildren and loved to be up north hunting and fishing. He liked to golf, bowl, play cards, and baseball throughout his life. John was also an avid sports fan. John was a master of all trades and had the unique ability to fix just about anything. He was always happy and willing to help his family, friends, and neighbors with a multitude of projects over the years.
John will be forever remembered and sincerely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Beloved father of Kathy (Randy) Kaye, Sue (Larry) Mozdrzech, John (Kelly) Zaprawa, and Lori Zaprawa. Proud grandfather of James (Jenna), Jessica (Henry), Larry (Whitney), Sarah (Nick), Katie, Rachel, John, and Jennifer; loving great-grandfather of Mya, Allie, Brett, Vince, Max, and a baby on the way; dear brother-in-law of Nick (Cheri); dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in passing by his loving wife Angeline, parents John and Josephine Zaprawa, and siblings Nellie, Laura, and Sally.
Visitation to take place on Monday, October 3 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM, with a rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass to take place on Tuesday, October 4 at St. Therese of Lisieux in Shelby Twp. Instate, or gathering time, 9:30 AM. Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp.
In lieu of flowers, donation's in John's honor can be made to the Assistance League of Southeast Michigan.
