John Douglas O'Brien

John Douglas O’Brien, 74, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love of  his family on August 30th, 2021 in Clinton Township, Michigan.

 John was born on September 2nd, 1946 in Houghton, Michigan to Douglas and Jane O’Brien. As a young man, John proudly joined theUnited States Air Force and served his country with loyalty and dedication from November, 1965 to February, 1969. After returning home from the service, John fell in love with the girl down his childhood street, LuAnn Luczki. John married the love of his life LuAnn (Luczki) O’Brien on April 7th, 1973 in Clawson, Michigan and eventually became residents of Sterling Heights. Together, John and LuAnn raised one son, Jason. John was a loving father to his son, and later in life a dedicated grandfather. John loved supporting his grandchildren in anything that they did, from sporting events to school events, John was always there in the front row cheering them on. 

John worked as a Maintenance Technician at the Harbours Apartments for over 25 years. He was extremely hard working, and there wasn’t many things that John could not fix. When he was not at work, John loved to spend his time with his family who was his entire life. He was extremely giving, going out of his way to help his friends and family with any problems they may have. 

His strong and loving spirit will be missed by everyone who loved him.

Beloved husband of LuAnn O’Brien; cherished father of Jason (Rebekah) O’Brien; proud grandfather of Alyssa, Jaden, and Caleb; dear brother-in-law of Tom and Mary; loved fur-granddad to Kylo. John was also survived by many dear family and friends..

Visitation to be held on Friday September 10th, 2021 from 2-8pm. It will be at the Lee-Ellena Funeral Home. Everyone is welcome to come at any time and to say a few words about him from 6:30-8pm. 46530 Romeo Plank Rd. Macomb, MI 48044

As stated before, John was a helping hand to almost everyone he met in his lifetime. Even with having little, John always gave more and went above and beyond for those he loved. Due to his sudden and tragic passing, we are accepting donations for his funeral services and his grieving wife LuAnn.
