John Nicholas Makara

John Nicholas Makara, age 81 of Grosse Pointe Farms, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2021.

 

John was born on September 26, 1939 to Nicholas and Edna Makara in Detroit, Michigan. John was always an incredibly hardworking, and loyal man. He worked as an engineer for many years at Ford Motor Company before retiring. As a young man, John married the love of his life, Gwyn Tousley. Together they had one son, John Francis Makara. In his free time, John loved to work on his toy trains, play puzzles like sudoku, and watch some of his favorite sport teams. However, the most important thing in his life was his family and the time he was able to spend with them.

John will be forever remembered in the hearts and memories of all who loved him.

 

Beloved husband of Gwyn Makara; cherished father of John (Kathleen) Francis Makara; dear brother of Robert Makara; proud grandfather of Riley, and Naomi Makara.

 

Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 14 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Funeral service at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Clinton Grove Cemetery in Clinton Twp.
