Our best buddy and friend, husband, dad, Papa, great-grandpa, uncle, and cousin, John Fredal, peacefully passed on Monday morning December 16, 2024, at the age of 89. He continues to be a part of us and will always be present. He had a full life continuously surrounded by people because he was so loved. His full attention and presence was given to each person he met and endeared him to all. Jack Fredal loved people. The joy of being together in any capacity made him the happiest man in the world. In Jack’s youth, he served as an altar boy at Saint Paul’s and spoke fondly of times with his friends at Sacred Heart Seminary. His deep love of Catholic faith was embedded into the fabric of the family. Jack began his career in dentistry as a proud member and Captain of the U.S. Air Force Dental Corp, and he continued to practice dentistry for 40 years in Utica, Michigan. His fun demeanor and compassionate care continues to be remembered by his patients. The Fredal Family Dentistry tradition has continued on through his son and granddaughters. John was not just a professional; he was a man full of life and love. A special place in Jack’s heart was the little red cottage where family and friends would gather to celebrate life. Jack poured his heart into conversation, music, dancing, and singing. He delighted in attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, theater, concerts, and graduation ceremonies where his pride and joy could be felt by his grandchildren through every cheer. Always a fan of College and Detroit professional sports, he enjoyed attending and discussing their play with his grandchildren and children. A few lasting words come to mind. Jack was understanding, generous, forgiving, fun, smart, honest, loyal, inclusive, handsome, and always kind and loving. John is survived by his loving spouse, Carolyn (Krass) Fredal, with whom he shared a beautiful life filled with laughter, adventure, and unconditional love. His children; Ann Marie Fredal (Joseph Coriaty), Lynda (Patrick) Zott, John (Kathleen) Fredal, Jr., Sharon Fredal (Albert Lake), Carrie Fredal-Estapa (Mark) and Joseph (Teresa) Fredal; Grandchildren: Joseph, Natalie, Jeremy, Nicholas, Philip (Courtney), Elizabeth (Collin), Anna (Ridge), Jack (Alexandra), Celia, John, Mark, Joseph, Benjamin; Great-Grandchildren: Eve, Cameron, Valerie and Ari, Ezra and Felix. He was predeceased by his parents; Joseph and Agnes Fredal and his siblings; Joseph (Frances) Fredal, Ralph (Blanche) Fredal and Thomas Fredal. Visitation will take place at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home, 46530 Romeo Plank, Macomb, MI on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 2-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A celebration of John’s life will take place on Friday, December 20, 2024, at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church. Family will receive friends from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
