John W Dobry

John Dobry, 73, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025. Born on August 23, 1951, John lived a life characterized by dedication, community spirit, and a deep love for his many passions.

For approximately 20 years, John was the proud owner and operator of Superior Janitorial, building a successful business through his hard work and commitment. Later, he served with distinction as a member of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) from 2004 to 2012, where his innovative spirit was recognized with a prestigious innovation award. John's commitment to his community extended beyond his professional life; he was an active member of the Parks Commission in Grayling and a dedicated participant in Rotary International.

Outside of his work and community involvement, John found immense joy in a variety of interests. He had a green thumb and cherished his time gardening. An inquisitive mind led him to countless hours of stargazing as well as being an avid reader. His life was often accompanied by the smooth sounds of jazz music, and he enjoyed the mental challenge of solving crossword puzzles.

John was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Eleanor; his father, Anthony; and his sister, Margaret.

He is survived by his loving former wife, Kathleen; his devoted children, Tony, Mary, and Carolyn; his sisters, Mary Ann, Barbara, Nancy, and Carol; and his cherished grandchildren, Alanis and Fiona.

Services for John will be held on June 9th, at St Mary of the Hills Roman Catholic Church located at 2675 John R Road, Rochester Hills, Mi.

In state will take place at 10:00am, followed by an 11am mass. The family does invite you all to the luncheon following the services held at the church.
