It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joan Mary Nettle on August 31, 2025. She battled the last few years with Lewy Body Dementia, but it did not dim her wit and kindness to all.
Joan was born on November 13, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois. Daughter to the late Benjamin and Florence Wittstock. Her wittiness and infectious humor were traits from her parents. Her laugh, smile and passive warm nature will always be remembered.
Joan became a traveler later in life and had many wonderful memories with her family and friends. She adored her friends and they endured a lasting friendship with all visiting her up until her last days. She was an amazing mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Joan is survived by her brother Jerry (Arlene) Wittstock, her loving children Brian Nettle and Katherine (Richard) Beresford and granddaughters Riley Nettle and Alyssa Beresford. She cherished them and they were the light of her life.
Joan touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her selflessness and warmth will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and compassion that will live in all of us.
A visitation will take place at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home in Macomb, Michigan on September 9, 2025, from 4:00pm until 8:00 pm
