Jerome “Jerry” Christopher Monarch, age 82, passed away on July 10, 2023.
Jerry was born on October 12, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Harry and Ann Monarch. He graduated from Pershing High School in 1958. In 1962 he married Frieda and they raised their two children together, Craig and Renee. In 1965 he earned his Associate in Engineering from Lawrence Technological University and went into business ownership with two of his brothers, Richard (Dick) and Robert (Bob) successfully establishing Abel Electronics (formerly Bell Electronics) in St. Clair Shores, MI.
Throughout his life he was continuously active. Some of his favorite activities were running, boating, bowling, fishing, and of course rooting for his beloved Detroit Lions and Tigers.
His true happy place was his cabin in Port Austin. Sitting in the sun, enjoying an ice-cold Miller Lite, and spending time outdoors with his family was as close to heaven on earth as you could get for Jerry. He will be forever loved and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Beloved father of Renee (Gary) Monarch- Tedder, and Craig (Melissa) Monarch; proud grandfather of Travis, Nicholas, and Nathaniel; cherished brother of Richard “Dick” (Helen) Monarch; dear life-long friend of Tony, Ron, Joey, and Dan; and loving owner of his cherished golden retriever Misty.
Jerry is preceded in passing by his siblings Leonard, Robert, and Margaret and parents Harry and Ann Monarch.
Message from family-
Hi everyone,
Thank you all so much for your kind words, thoughts and prayers. Each one warmed my heart.
My Dad’s wishes were to be cremated. He said, “I do not want a funeral of any sort.” If you knew my dad, you can probably hear him saying this with conviction. He did say that we “could have a party or something. I don’t want people moping around.” So, at a later date that’s exactly what we are going to do. At our/his home, we are going to celebrate his life the way he would want it. Miss him so much.
