Janis Marie Wilhelm

Janis Marie Wilhelm, age 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.

Janis was born on November 12, 1951 to James Frederick and Theda Delois Murray in Detroit, Michigan. Throughout her entire life, Janis spread happiness and love to all those around her, always having a kind word to say of anyone she met. Janis was an incredibly hardworking and devoted mother to Laura and Terry. For 32 years Janis worked as a material handler in the automotive industry and retired in 2017. Janis was gentle and caring towards everyone in her life, her generosity showing through by freely giving of herself for others without a second thought. With her sharp wit, she was quick to laugh and could always find the best of any situation. Janis enjoyed peaceful moments spending time at home, relaxing with her children and her pets that she adored. An avid reader, Janis could easily go through multiple novels in a matter of a week! She enjoyed visits to the casinos to play slots with her friends, and a week was never complete without a trip to Meijer. Janis was also the maker of one of the world’s best cheesecakes, something her family enjoyed time after time. Janis’s gentle and generous soul will be remembered forever in the hearts and memories of her family and everyone that knew her. 

Beloved mother to Laura (Matthew) Wilhelm-Bruzek, and Terry Wilhelm; dear grandmother of Alexandra and Zachary; loving pet-mom to her fur babies Shadow, Chloe, Fatty, Fluffy, Gizzy, Butch, and Mika.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents James Frederick and Theda Delois Murray, and brother James F. Murray.

Private family visitation will take place.
