Janice Lydia McCarthy

Janice Lydia McCarthy, age 86 of Macomb, passed away on January 31, 2021.

Janice was born on March 4, 1934 to Harry and Anne Bradbury in Detroit, Michigan. As a young woman in 1955, Janice met her beloved husband, Robert L. Watton at the church that they both attended. They later married, and together raised five children. Janice had earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Wayne State University and later, she went back to school to earn her Master’s Degree. For over 30 years, Janice was a dedicated high school teacher for Madison High School and the head of many departments and groups within the school. In 1990, Janice lost her husband Robert. Years later, she met her second husband, John L. McCarthy, whom she met bowling. In 1997, Janice and John were married and were together for almost 20 years before he passed away in 2016.   Janice was highly creative and loved to sew, scrapbook and cross stitch. She also loved to travel with her family, and made many happy memories. Family was important to Janice. She was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she loved the time she spent with them.

Janice will be forever remembered as a dedicated educator, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and friend to all who had loved her.

Beloved mother of Debra (Larry) Brown, Susan (Randy) Greenwood, Robert B. (Marsha) Watton, Michael (Sandra) Watton, and Cheryl Watton; proud grandma of 8 and great-grandma of 4.

Janice was preceded in passing by her beloved husbands Robert L. Watton and John L. McCarthy; sister Carol Bradbury; and parents Harry and Anne Bradbury.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 3 from 2-7PM. Prayer service at 6PM at the funeral home. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery on Thursday, February 4 at 11AM.
