Janet Marie Manning

Janet Marie Manning, age 73 of Macomb, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024

Born on April 22, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Gordon and Virginia Barber.

Throughout her life, Janet dedicated herself to her family and her work. After graduating from Utica High School, she embarked on a 40-year career as a dedicated claims manager at Gallager Insurance Company. Janet was a devoted mother to her son, Nathan Miller, and found immense joy in the role of Nana to her cherished grandson, Logan Miller.

In her free time, Janet was actively involved in the New Baltimore Historical Society and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Utica. She had a passion for crocheting and enjoyed spending time at her cabin in Port Austin for two decades. Those who knew her well remember Janet as a deeply compassionate individual who had a special affinity for dogs.

Jan’s warm and loving nature made her a pillar of support for her family and friends. Her nurturing spirit earned her the endearing title of "mom" to many. Janet's memory will forever be treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Loving mother of Nathan (Lisa) Miller; cherished grandmother of Logan Miller. Janet is also survived by many loving family and numerous friends.  

Janet is preceded in passing by her loving parents Gordon and Virginia Barber as well as her stepmother Darlene, and dear sister Doris Schultz.

Memorial visitation to take place on Monday, June 24 from 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM with a prayer service at 4:30 PM.
