Helen Mary Bowling

Helen Mary Bowling, age 66 of Chesterfield, passed away on July 25, 2021 surrounded by the love of her family. 

Helen was born on January 12, 1955 to John and Mary Harnett in Toronto, Canada. As a young girl, Helen moved to Detroit, Michigan with her family. She lived in a tight knit neighborhood, where she would meet her lifelong friends and the love of her life, and future husband, Charles Eugene Bowling. They later married on September 17th, 1982. Together they raised four beloved children: Jennifer, Kelly, Mark, and Jacob.  When Helen became a grandmother to J.J., she was overcome with joy. Helen’s strength was undeniable, affectionately known as the family “boss” and champion. She had the biggest heart and loved to give. She was a great gift giver, always finding the perfect something for her loved one (and at an incredible deal!). She was a wonderful friend and enjoyed going to movies and lunches with her lifelong girlfriends from her childhood neighborhood. 

Helen will be forever remembered by all whom loved her.

Beloved wife of Charles Eugene Bowling; cherished mother of Jennifer (Salvatore) Gigliotti, Kelly Bowling, Mark Bowling, and Jacob Bowling; proud grandmother of J.J.; dearest sister of Theresa (Richard) Switniak, Christine Harnett, Michael Harnett, and Katherine (Michael) Ratliff.  Loving aunt to Christy (Michael) Barney, Ashley (Vinnie) Amalfitano, Daniel and David Thompson, Alexandra Switniak (John), Alexander Harnett, Adam Switniak and great nieces Adriana and Lillian Barney, Vaida Thompson, and Isla Amalfitano. Helen was also survived by many beloved family members and friends.

Helen was preceded in passing by her dear parents John and Mary Harnett, and brothers John and James. 

Visitation to take place on Saturday, July 31 from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral Service at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
