Gerry Strunk Obituary

Gerry Strunk a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother and cherished great grandmother, passed away on September 28, 2023 at the age of 86.

Born on December 23, 1936 to the late John Ellis and Cordia Meadows, Gerry was a beacon of light and love throughout her remarkable life.

On May 15, 1956, Gerry embarked on a journey of eternal love and devotion when she married the love of her life, Ansel Rayford Strunk.  Their union lasted 56 years and produced four children.

Gerry's abiding faith in the lord was an integral part of her identity and she approached life with a deep rooted spirituality.  As a dedicated Christian, she found solace and strength in her relationship with Jesus Christ, showing kindness and compassion wherever she went.

Gerry had a melodious voice and loved to sing at church. In the past she belonged to church choirs and enjoyed singing solos and duets with her husband.

Gerry's love of traveling started at a young age when her parents took her on family vacations every summer.  By the time she was 17 years of age, and prior to her father's death, she had already visited 48 of the 50 continental United States, and with Alaska and Hawaii being the only two states she had not been to.

After her husband's passing in 2012, she began splitting her time between Michigan and Texas. She would spend about 6 months in Michigan with her youngest son and his family, and then travel to Texas for the next 6 months to spend it with her other three children and their families. Her family meant everything to her, and she loved the time spent with all of them. Above all, Gerry will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with boundless affection, creating a legacy of warmth and togetherness that will continue to be cherished for generations to come.

Gerry Strunk's indomitable spirit will forever be etched in our memories.  May she rest in eternal peace knowing that her loving presence will continue to guide and inspire us all.

Beloved mother of Russell Alan(Alice) Strunk, Elizabeth Ann(Harold) Longoria, Cindy Lee(John) McFadden, and Gary Ray(Brenda) Strunk; loving grandmother of 11 and great grandmother of 12.  Gerry is preceded in death by her husband Ansel Rayford Strunk, parents John Ellis and Cordia Meadows, and siblings Margaret Brozowski, Jack Gene Meadows and Patricia Parker.
