Gerald Zelmanski Obituary

Gerald Zelmanski, age 89 of Sterling Heights, passed away on December 5, 2022 surrounded by the love of his family.

Gerald was born on April 7, 1933, to Leo and Victoria Zelmanski in Detroit, Michigan. Jerry was one of three boys, including his brother Leo and twin brother Harold. Jerry would go on to graduate from St. Ladislaus High School, where he met the love of his life and future bride Leona. Jerry and Leona married on May 29, 1954, in a beautiful celebration at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church. Jerry proudly enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country with dignity and loyalty. After his time in the service, Leona and Jerry settled in Roseville where they would raise their beloved family. Jerry loved being a father, and adored his three daughters: Karen, Susan and Diane. Later in life, Jerry and Leona would be overjoyed to become grandparents, and great-grandparents. Jerry was always very competitive and played many sports; from golf, racquetball and softball well into his 70’s. He always stayed active and loved to watch sports, especially taking pride in watching his grandson Alex in all his sport events and watching his granddaughters and great granddaughters dance competitively. Jerry enjoyed traveling, especially with his family on their many vacations and created countless beautiful memories together. He will be forever remembered and missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Beloved husband of Leona Zelmanski; loving father of Susan (Glenn) Markowicz, Diane (Jerry) Pierse; cherished grandfather of Amanda (Ryan) Adlam, Alex (Allison) Pierse, and Morgan (Fiancé Steve) Markowicz; proud great-grandfather of Scarlett, and Vivianne. Jerry was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Predeceased by his parents, brother Leo, twin brother Harold and loving daughter Karen.
