George Leroy Orris, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023, at the age of 86. Born on December 31, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, George was the son of Vernon and Elizabeth Orris.
George's journey in life was defined by love, dedication, and a deep commitment to his family. After graduating from Denby High School in 1954, George entered the United States Army, serving his country with honor and integrity from 1955 to 1961. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Brenda Schueler, and their bond would only grow stronger over the years.
In 1959, George and Brenda exchanged vows at Salem Memorial Lutheran Church in Detroit, embarking on a joyful and enduring partnership that spanned 64 remarkable years. Together, they welcomed four daughters into the world, Sheri, Lori, Debbi, and Bonnie, and their family became the center of George's universe.
While George dedicated much of his working life to the Better Made Potato Chip Factory, where he started in the mid-1970s and retired as the plant manager in 1997, he made sure to find time for his passions outside of work. An avid outdoorsman, George found solace in fishing, hunting, golfing, and boating. He cherished his membership in numerous boating clubs and took pleasure in navigating the waters. George also had a soft spot for antique and vintage cars. Amongst his prized possessions were a classic 1930 Model A Ford and a stunning 1960 Thunderbird.
However, George's true joy came from spending time with his adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a remarkable family man whose warmth, compassion, and love knew no bounds.
George Leroy Orris will forever be remembered as a kind-hearted soul whose generosity and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and cherished memories that will be treasured by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
