George Anthony Bucec, age 76 of Clinton Twp., passed away on February 20, 2023.
George was born on June 1, 1946 to John and Isabelle Bucec in Detroit, Michigan. It was in Detroit that George would grow up in, with his big brother Larry, and attend high school St. Rita’s High School where he also played basketball. After high school, George attended college before proudly enlisting in the United States Army. He served his country with dignity and loyalty from 1969 – 1971. George would always look back on his years in the Army with pride and tell his family about how he used to be his platoon’s DJ and called himself ‘The Boogieman’. After his time in the Army, George worked for Ford Motor Company and later DuPont in the paint plant until he retired. While on his ‘lunch’ breaks, George would often visit the restaurant across from his work. It was there that he would fall in love with the beautiful waitress that would later become his wife, Susan, or “Suz” as he called her. In August of 1988, Susan and George would marry. In his free time, George loved to watch sports (Detroit Pistons, Red Rings, and Notre Dame football were some of his favorites), and horse races. In his earlier years he would go to the races. But his favorite past time was spending weekends gardening with his wife. Despite his favorite pastimes, the most important thing in George’s life was the time he was able to spend with his loving family and cherished dogs, Heidi and Sissy.
George will be forever loved and remembered.
Beloved stepfather of Mark (Donna) Stroup, Kelly Stroup-Garceau, and father of Jonelle Pough (Jeremy, children Morgan, Jayden, Cameron, Logan, Jameson); proud papa of Phillip Stroup, Mason Garceau, and Myla Garceau; loved brother-in-law of Marilyn Bucec. George is also survived by many loving family and friends.
George is united with his loving wife Susan Bucec, parents John and Isabelle Bucec, and brother Larry Bucec.
Visitation to take place on Tuesday, February 28 from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
