Gemarice Ilene Fisher, age 94 of Macomb, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2022.
Gemarice (Gerry) was born on January 2, 1928 in Bad Axe, Michigan to Ivan and Ruth Dickinson. When she was a child, she moved to the Macomb area with her family for her father’s work at the Michigan Bell Telephone Company. She graduated from Mt. Clemens High School, and started to work at Michigan Bell herself with her father. It was at Michigan Bell that Gemarice would meet the love of her life, and future husband, Richard Fisher. They married in 1954 at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Together, Gemarice and Richard raised two beloved children, James Ivan and Gail Robin Fisher, in the home that they built in Macomb. She was a wonderful mother, and was so overjoyed to become a grandmother and great-grandmother later in her life. Family and faith were the two most important things in Gemarice’s life, and she was a long-time parishioner at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church and later on at Macomb Baptist Church. Gemarice was a gifted pianist and would often play the piano for choir practice, singing solos and with the choir. She also loved the Detroit Red Wings since she was a little girl, listening to the games on the radio when she was young with her father and later on watching the games with her own children as she cheered on her favorite team. Gemarice will be forever remembered by all who loved her.
Beloved mother of James (Eve) Fisher, and Gail Stevens; cherished grandmother of Chris (Mary-Helen) Fisher, Cassie (Josh) Kim, Stephanie (Lari) Zeka, and Mitchell Stevens; loving great-grandmother of Annabel Fisher, Elliot Fisher, Alyriana Zeka, and Illyrian Zeka; and loved sister-in-laws of Joan Dickinson and Marilyn Klabbatz. Gemarice is also survived by many dear family and friends.
Gemarice joins in heaven her husband Richard Fisher, parents Ivan and Ruth Dickinson, grandson Michael James Fisher, brother Richard Dickinson, and brother-in-law James Klabbatz.
Visitation to take place on Saturday, September 3 from 11AM – 1PM. Funeral Service at 1PM at the funeral home.
