Gary Eugene Bowman, age 70, of Washington Twp, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024. Born on December 7, 1953 in Cumberland, Maryland, Gary was the beloved son of Raymond and Mable Bowman and grew up in Roseville, Michigan.
Loved father to Joseph (Heather) Bowman and Michael (Leah) Bowman; treasured brother to Lauren (Wesley) Smith, formerly known as Brenda; adored grandfather to Ben, Elsa, Penelope, Valerie, and Hannah; admirable uncle to David Smith and Christopher Smith; cherished best friend to Clarice Squillace.
Gary had a zest for life and found joy in strumming the guitar, tinkling the keys of a piano, playing harmonica, and singing songs. A dedicated boater, he cherished his time on the water, and often sought solace in nature at his cabin. Among his adventures, Gary especially treasured his Alaskan cruise, a memory that brought him immense happiness with the stunning beauty of the inner passage.
Gary pursued his education at Macomb Community College, where he earned an associate's degree in land surveying. He went on to work as a surveyor for the Road Commission for Oakland County before transitioning to the private sector, where he found success in the field of Right of Way Real Estate at JCK and Associates, Inc. His career culminated with his role as the Right of Way Director for the Macomb County Road Commission, a position from which he retired after years of dedicated service.
Outside of work, Gary was an active member of the International Right of Way Association (IRWA) for over a decade, showcasing his commitment to his profession. Despite not being able to see them as often as he would have liked, Gary adored visiting with his grandchildren, and was very proud of their accomplishments. Gary also commented to friends often about the achievements of his two sons, and was pleased with their success in life.
A loving companion, father, and grandfather, Gary will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Gary was a Gift of Life - Michigan donor.
He is joined in Heaven by his loving parents, Raymond and Mable, and his treasured granddaughter Natalie.
