Frank Charles Schonhoff, age 73 of Macomb, passed away on September 3, 2022.
Frank was born on January 26, 1949 to Leroy and Shirley Schonhoff in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating high school from Southfield High, Frank proudly joined the United States Coast Guard and was in the National Honor Guard during part of his enlistment. Throughout his time in the service, Frank served his country with pride and patriotic loyalty. After his time in the Coast Guard, Frank worked at Control Power Company, where he met his future wife and love of his life, Donna. Frank and Donna married, and together raised two beautiful girls; Michelle and Danielle (whom he affectionately called ‘Marie’). Frank was a wonderful and caring father, and was so overjoyed to become a grandfather and great-grandfather later in his life. Frank went to work at Detronic Industries, where he worked for 21 dedicated years as a sales representative. He loved his job and the people he worked with both within the company and his customer’s, as well, while working closely with their buyers and engineers. As an outside salesperson, Frank handled orders, developed new business, handled issues with current orders and serviced his customers. He established many good relationships during this time.
In Frank’s free time he loved to golf, read, watch Fox News, go to the casino, snowmobile, and go on fishing trips at his brother’s cottage on Cranberry Lake. Most of all he loved his family and to laugh. He also was the caregiver of his father for nearly 20 years after the loss of his mother. Frank had a great sense of humor. He had a nickname for most everyone, especially his grandchildren. He was known by all for being a good man; a genuine, humble, honest man and friend. He was well-known and recognized for his famous Hawaiian-style shirts that he exclusively wore year-round for many decades. Frank will be remembered by all who loved him.
Beloved husband of Donna Schonhoff; cherished father of Michelle Ann Okerlund, and Danielle Marie Roberts; proud grandfather of Bryan (Elizabeth) Brown, Vincent Krans, Kayla Roberts, and Gavin Roberts; cherished great-grandfather of Ellie Brown, Emma Brown, and Logan Brown; dear brother of Clifford (Janet) Schonhoff, and Kenneth (Deborah) Schonhoff.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Shirley Schonhoff.
