Frank Pryg (1923-2023)
Detroit – Frank Pryg, age 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving children: Laurell Pilkey (Robert), Linda Kahler (Mark), Leslie Stronati (Mark), Lawrence Pryg (Becky), Leighann Bishop (Terry) Lisbeth Murphy-Garippa (Jim).
As a young boy, Frank worked in his parents' flower shop. He attended Log Cabin High School (currently Troy HS) after which he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. His service began in 1943 in the South Pacific with the Dive-Bombing Squadron (VMSB-343), where he was a flying Sergeant. He was honorably discharged on April 25, 1946.
Frank went on to work for several elevator companies, building his skills and ultimately finishing his career at General Motors Technical Center.
Some of Frank’s passions included building and racing cars. He was a member of the Michigan Hot Rod Association for over 50 years. He also loved baseball, bowling, boating, and attending his grandchildren’s many sporting events.
Frank was extremely grateful for his children and his many wonderful friends. He will be remembered for his fun-loving nature, generous heart, extraordinary ability to make a stranger a friend. Over the years many young people considered Frank like a second father. He is truly a blessing to all of us and his legacy will continue for generations.
Frank’s marriage to Dorothy Pryg in 1975 also blessed him with her three children: Greg Krueger (Judy), Candace Voigt (Rob) and Lisa Irish.
Frank’s large, loving family also includes grandchildren: Daniel Pilkey, Jason Kahler, Jackie Kahler-Chevez, Anthony Stronati, Katie Schreck, Joseph Stronati, Kasey Felten, Lucas Pryg, Taylor Collar, Troy Bishop, Trevor Bishop, Shannon Murphy, Amy Krueger, Erik Krueger, Sasha Voigt, Elissa Voigt, Donovan Irish and great-grandchildren Brooks and Reagan Kahler, Benjamin and Rowan Pilkey, Jack Schreck, Jamie Felten, Emmy Stronati, Fernanda and Danny Chevez, Alayna and Wade Malow, Isabel, Sam and William Krueger, Sutton, Robin and Leland Voigt.

He is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Sophia, and his wife Dorothy, stepson Greg and first wife Eleanor Staub.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 16, at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home 46530 Romeo Plank, Macomb, Michigan. Visitation from Noon-3:00 p.m. with prayer service and military honors 3:00-4:00 p.m. followed by dinner.
